1. Bartholomew GARTMAN, born abt 1795 in Orangeburgh, South Carolina; died 31 Mar 1834 in Pike City, Mississippi, son of Bartholomew GARTMAN and Margaret Catherine ([---]) Gartman. He married on 11 Mar 1811 in Barnwell, South Carolina Ellender O'QUIN, born 1796; died 31 May 1876 in Pike City, Mississippi, daughter of Daniel O'QUIN and Barsheba HALL.

Notes for Bartholomew GARTMAN: Moved to Mississippi about 1800. War of 1812 from Mississippi. Enlisted 25 Sep 1814, discharged 31 Dec 1814.

Children of Bartholomew GARTMAN and Ellender O'QUIN were as follows:

a. David Alexander GARTMAN, born 2 Feb 1811 in Georgia; died 15 Nov 1862 in Holmesville, Pike Co., Mississippi. He married Elizabeth HOLMES, daughter of [---] HOLMES. Died en route home due to illnes from Civil War near Holmesville, Pike Co. Ms. REF ESpiers

b. Cynthia GARTMAN, born 1813 in Mississippi. She married Joseph DEER, born 1814 in South Carolina.

c. John Milledge GARTMAN, born abt 1816 in Mississippi; died 1888. He married (1) Ann HOOVER, born 1819; died 1888; (2) on 1 Sep 1845 in Picke County, Mississippi Serenia Lavenia SPENCE, born abt 1832 in Mississippi.

d. Josiah Daughtery GARTMAN, born 1817 in Mississippi; died 1915. He married Margaret DOUGLASS, born 1846; died 1899.

e. Katheryn GARTMAN, born 1818 in Mississippi. She married Charles CHARTER, born 1821.

f. George Bartholemew GARTMAN, born 1819 in Magges Creek, Pike Co., Mississippi; died 1871 in Old Pike Co., Mississippi. He married Sarah HOLMES.

g. Ellen GARTMAN, born abt 1821 in Mississippi. She married Benjamin GRUBBS.

h. Mary S. GARTMAN, born 6 Aug 1822 in Mississippi; died 25 Jul 1889 in Tylertown, Mississippi. She married Elias V. SMITH.

i. Caroline GARTMAN, born abt 1823 in Mississippi.

j. Commodore Perry GARTMAN, born 1829 in Mississippi.
