1. John LIGHTSEY, born 17 Sep 1796 in Barnwell Co., South Carolina; died 28 Jan 1854 in Jasper County, Mississippi He married on 26 Jan 1815 Barbara< LINDER, born 23 Sep 1797 in South Carolina; died 9 May 1869 in Jasper County, Mississippi, daughter of John Lewis LINDER.

Children of John LIGHTSEY and Barbara LINDER were as follows:

a. Mary LIGHTSEY, born 2 Sep 1817; died 1820.

b. John Edward Lewis LIGHTSEY, born 10 Dec 1819 in Mississippi; died 13 Jun 1896. He married Caroline RHODES, born 31 May 1824; died 29 May 1894.

c. Ann Elizabeth LIGHTSEY, born 16 Jan 1822 in Mississippi; died May 1862. She married Newman MCKINSTRY.

d. George Linder LIGHTSEY, born Aug 1824 in Mississippi; died 12 Mar 1903 in Mississippi. He married Dorothy Caroline ABNEY, daughter of Robert Rutherford ABNEY, on 11 Sep 1861. She was born 24 Jul 1832 and died 7 Jun 1890. Both are buried in Montrose Methodist Church Cemetery, Jasper County, MS.

e. Susannah B.H. LIGHTSEY, born 26 Aug 1826 in Mississippi. She married William T. POWE.

f. David A. LIGHTSEY, born 28 Nov 1828 in Mississippi. He married Margaret Ann GRAYSON.

g. Joseph Benjamin LIGHTSEY, born 4 Sep 1831 in Jones County, Mississippi; died 31 Mar 1919 in Jasper County, Mississippi. He married Mary Ella MOORE, born 1833 in Jasper County, Mississippi; died 1877 in Jasper County, Mississippi.

h. Richard Thomas Hasfort LIGHTSEY, born 28 Jan 1834 in Jasper County, Mississippi; died 3 Oct 1862 in Corinth, Mississippi. He married Elizabeth N. SUMRALL.

i. Sarah M. LIGHTSEY, born 23 Mar 1836 in Mississippi; died 2 Sep 1843 in Mississippi.

j. Mary S. LIGHTSEY, born 28 Dec 1838 in Mississippi; died 1843.

k. Isabell F. LIGHTSEY, born 1842 in Jasper County, Mississippi. She married Russell P. MOORE.
