1. Nicholas YAWN, born abt 1787 in Orangeburg District, South Carolina; died Sep 1850 in Marion County, Mississippi He married Selvester [---].

Notes for Nicholas YAWN: Nicholas Yawn came on Georgia passport from Orangeburg, SC to Mississippi 21 Dec 1811. Wife and one child. Family appears in Amite County, MS tax rolls; Pike County census, 1816 then tax rolls until 1835. On Topisaw Creek. Nicholas is in the 1850 Mortality Schedule. Was a widower, farmer b. SC. He and famiy were Methodist (See Marion Co. court records regarding a land deed for campground?). Mortality census 1850 Marion Co. Mississippi. Age 63, wid. b. S.C. death Sept. farmer. Also on Jan 4, 1841 Nicholas Yawn and Selvester, his wife sold 80 acres of land to John Carney. pg 233 Marion Co. MS Misc. Records by E. RussWilliams. Jacob Sistrunk and wife Mariah sold 60 acres for $150 to Nicholas Yawn in Marion Co. MS on 5 Apr 1849.

a. Cullen YAUN, born 1812 in Mississippi. He married L. [---], born 1812 in Mississippi. Justice of Peace Marion Co., Mississippi 19 Apr 1849 when Nicholas Yawn bought land from Jesse Rawlins for $56.00 on 27 Nov 1845.

b. Priscilla YAWN. Possible daughter. Listed here only as related.

c. William YAWN.

d. Jesse YAWN.

e. Elizabeth YAWN, born 5 Aug 1821. She married in 1838 in Pike County, Alabama Lafayette Sanders WALKER, born 25 Mar 1807 in Georgia; died 23 Feb 1879 in Chatham, Lousiana, son of Thomas WALKER and Sophia Elizabeth WILCHER.

Notes for Elizabeth YAWN: Lafayette Sanders Walker is listed as son-in-law (wife, Mary Yawn). This Walker family settled in Jackson Parish, LA. Siblings include Elizabeth who married Willis Clark and William Walker, who married Charlotta Clark both children of Moses Clark II and wife Elizabeth Miller. There are some Yawns listed in Covington Co. To LA 1851 (See Jackson Parish History for Sanders Walker) Sanders and Elizabeth with six children and a niece, Lucy Walker, left Mississippi in an ox wagon in 1851 on their way to Texas. They camped in the Wyatt Community (LA) and stayed. Sanders was a school teacher. Children listed by Dr. J.Paul Peters. Sanders Walker as heir to Solomon Walker (wife Nancy) Abbeville Dist. SC will 29 Jan 1847 settled 12 Feb 1858. Heirs Sanders m. Elizabeth Yawn; Elizabeth m. William Dellishaw; Lucinda m. Gallant Hardy; Samuel; Margaret m. James F. Martin; Barton.
