Migration of Lewis Carnley Sr.

Lewis CARNLEY (aka Carnley, Sr., Carnline, Cantaline, Sr.) was born Abt. 1770, Amelia Township, St. Mathews Parish, Orangeburg District, South Carolina to George Christopher KIENLEIN and Anna Maria CONTABINE. He died October 1843 in Pike County, Alabama, and was probably buried in Little Oak Methodist Church Cemetery a few miles southwest of Troy, Alabama. He married before 1810 Lovisa (aka Levica), last name unknown, in Lexington District, South Carolina. She was born about 1780, probably in South Carolina. She died about September 1851 in Pike County, Alabama and was probably buried beside Lewis.

Notes for Lewis CARNLEY Sr.: First appeared in S. C. records in 1808 as Lewis Carnline. Next in 1810 Lexington District S. C. census as Lewis Carnly. Migrated to Monroe County, Alabama, 1819, then to Pike County, Alabama ca 1835, died there in Oct. 1843. His surnames in probate records were Carnley, Carnline and Cantaline.

Children of Lewis CARNLEY Sr. and Lovisa ____ were as follows:

a. Jacob CARNLEY/CARNLINE/CANTALINE/CARNALA, born about 1802, in Lexington District, South Carolina. He died after 1854, probably Pike County, Alabama. He m. Rosina CARNLEY before 1830, probably in Monroe County, Alabama. She died after 1854, place unknown.

b. Abraham CARNLEY/CARNLINE/CANTALINE, born about 1805 in Lexington District, South Carolina, and died before 1851 in Pike County, Alabama. Whom and when he married are unknown, but the place was probably Monroe County, Alabama.

c. Jeremiah CARNLEY/CARNLINE/CANTALINE, born about 1808 in Lexington District, South Carolina and died 17 August 1861 at Monroeville, Monroe County, Alabama. He married Mary KELLY on 26 May 1836 in Pike County, Alabama. She was born in South Carolina 24 August 1810 and died in Monroe County, Alabama 12 June 1893.

d. Emily (aka Emeline, Millie) CARNLINE/CARNLEY, born about 1810, probably South Carolina, and died after 1880, Santa Rosa County, Florida. She married Gabriel CAPERS, 16 April 1836 in Pike County, Alabama.

e. John CARNLEY/CARNLINE, born about 1816 in Lexington District, South Carolina and died in 1880 possibly of mental debilitation, in Pike County, Alabama. He married Cecelia Ann STAGNER 21 March 1844 in Pike County, Alabama. She died after 1893 in Holmes County, Florida.

f. Daniel CARNLEY/CARNLINE/CANTALINE, born about 1818 in Lexington District, South Carolina, and died after 1870 in Texas. He married Rosannah HENDRIX 26 April 1838, in Monroe County, Alabama. She was born about 1813, probably in South Carolina and died after 1870, probably in Texas.

g. William Henry CARNLEY, born about 1819, probably in Monroe County, Alabama, and died 10 Feb. 1909 in Nacodoches County, Texas where he was buried at Swift Cemetery. He married Mary Ann BLANTON 25 July 1848 in Coffee County, Alabama. She was born about 1827 in Alabama and died about 1915 in Swift, Nacodoches County, Texas.

h. Lewis CARNLEY/CARNLINE, born about 1822, probably in Monroe County, Alabama. He died in Bradley County, Arkansas about August 1865, possibly of typhoid fever. He married (1) Isabel LANSDALE, 13 December 1847, in Pike County, Alabama. She was born about 1820, probably in South Carolina, and died after 1860 in Bradley County, Arkansas. He married (2), Mary LANSDALE, sister of Isabel, in Bradley County, Arkansas, after Isabel died. Mary was born about 1834 in Alabama. She died after 1880 in Washington, Bradley County, Arkansas.

i. Joseph CARNLINE/CARNALA/CARNLEY, was born about 1825 in Monroe County, Alabama. He died on 22 Aug 1884 in Walton County, Florida. He married (1) Rosanna CARNLEY, daughter of George Carnley and Elinor (Unknown) on 04 May 1842 in Pike County, Alabama. She was born about 1825, probably in Pike County, and died there about 1845. He married (2) Mary Ann STEPHENS on 18 Mar 1846 in Pike County. She was born date Unknown, probably in Pike County. She died between about 1848 in Walton County, Florida. He married (3) Mary MURPHY about 1849 in Walton County. She was born on 16 Aug 1818 in Roanoke, Stewart County, Georgia and died about 1910 in Laurel Hill, Walton County, Florida.
