1. William Arthur DEBARDELEBEN, born 11 Aug 1802 in St. Matthews, Orangeburg Co., South Carolina; died 1838 in Shorter, Alabama, son of Arthur Franz Ferdinand VON BARDELEBEN and Margaret [---]. He married on 2 Mar 1822 in St. Matthews, Orangeburg Co., South Carolina Maria WHETSTONE, born 6 May 1800, died 10 September 1868, daughter of John D. WHETSTONE and Elizabeth HORGER. Maria Whetstone DeBardeleben is buried at Sweet Gum Cemetery, LaPlace, Alabama.

Children of William Arthur DEBARDELEBEN and Maria WHETSTONE were as follows:
a. John Arthur DEBARDELEBEN, born 1822; died 5 Jun 1880. He married Phala Sanford MENEFEE, born 23 July 1828, died 15 June 1877. Both are buried at City Cemetery, Tuskegee, Alabama.
b. Francis E. DEBARDELEBEN, born 11 Sep 1835; died 16 Jun 1862 in the Confederate Hospital, Peterburg, Virginia. He is buried at Sweet Gum Cemetery, LaPlace, Alabama.
