Migration of Rev. Henry WHETSTONE

1. Henry WHETSTONE (Rev.), born 1784 in Orangeburgh, South Carolina; died 28 Mar 1834 in Autauga County, Alabama, son of John D. WHETSTONE and Elizabeth HORGER. He married Elizabeth HOUSER, born 3 Jan 1786 in Orangeburgh, South Carolina; died 28 Mar 1853 in Alabama; buried in Dutch Bend, Autauga County,, Alabama, daughter of Andrew HOUSER (JR) and Margaret R. STOUDENMEYER.

Notes for Henry WHETSTONE: Moved to Alabama about 1820. Rev. Henry Whetstone was active in the Methodist Church movement in Orangeburgh District. He was a circuit rider in Autauga County, Alabama after he move to the area about 1821. There were 69 wagons in the wagon train. A nucleus of kin moved to the same area, the Dutch Bend of the Alabama River. With Rev. Henry Whetstone and his wife, Elizabeth Houser, Sophia Stoudenmire, John George Stoudenmire and wife, Mary Magdalene Whetestone Stoudenmire, John Rudolph Murph and wife, Jan Stoudenmire. In a letter written by Lewis Houser in the 1820, he mentions the proximity of many of these Orangeburgh families.

Notes for Elizabeth HOUSER: Elizabeth Houser WHETSTONE married second Reverend Jacob Whetstone on 21 April 1840. Jacob Whetstone and Henry Whetstone were first cousins through their mothers, Elizabeth Horger and Magdalene Horger.

a. William W. WHETSTONE, born abt 1805 in Orangeburgh, South Carolina; died 1 Dec 1840 in Dutch Bend, Autauga County,, Alabama.

b. Lewis Myers WHETSTONE, born 10 Oct 1808 in Orangeburgh, South Carolina; died 11 Nov 1881 in Dutch Bend, Autauga County,, Alabama. He married Sophia MURPH, daughter of John Rudolph MURPH and Jane STOUDENMEYER.

c. Elizabeth Rosannah WHETSTONE, born abt 1811 in Orangeburgh, South Carolina; died 8 Mar 1861 in Dutch Bend, Autauga County,, Alabama. She married Edward STOUDENMEYER.

d. Mary Selina WHETSTONE, born 10 Oct 1813 in Orangeburgh, South Carolina; died 28 Apr 1870 in Dutch Bend, Autauga County,, Alabama. She married Reddick Pierce HOUSER.

e. Rachel Delila WHETSTONE, born 14 Mar 1816 in Orangeburgh, South Carolina; died 1 Nov 1886 in Dutch Bend, Autauga County,, Alabama.

f. John David WHETSTONE, born abt 1821 in Orangeburgh, South Carolina; died 16 Jul 1835 in Dutch Bend, Autauga County,, Alabama.

g. Henry Hill WHETSTONE.

h. Caroline Sophia WHETSTONE. She married Barton STONE.

i. Daniel Jacob WHETSTONE, born abt 1824 in Orangeburgh, South Carolina; died 5 Feb 1847 in Dutch Bend, Autauga County,, Alabama.

j. Anne Rebecca WHETSTONE, born abt 1826; died 11 Aug 1870 in Dutch Bend, Autauga County,, Alabama. She married Warren DEBARDELEBEN.
