1. Simon YOUN (JR), born abt 1770 in Orangeburg County, South Carolina; died in Jeff Davis County, Georgia, son of Simon YONN (SR). He married in Orangeburg County, South Carolina [---] CHAVES.

Notes for Simon YOUN (JR): March 13, 1829 Simon Youn granted to David Youn lots 131, 170, and 189 in District 13. Filed Dec 3, 1830. Deed NKA 154. David Youn granted to Willis Youn lot 189 for $100.00 (202 acres) on April 18, 1831. Deed ALQ 172. Willis Youn granted to George Stout lot 189 for $100.00 on June 18, 1833 Deed ALQ 174 witnessed by Simon Youn (Montgomery County GEORGIA).

Children of Simon YOUN (JR) and [---] CHAVES were as follows:

a. David YAWN, born 1796 in Orangeburg District, South Carolina; died 1848 in Appling County, Georgia. He married Nancy (ALTMAN) Yawn, born 1802 in North Carolina; died in Jeff Davis County, Georgia.

Notes for David YAWN: David Yawn was in the 1810 census of South Carolina; he was in the 1820 Appling County GEORGIA census; in 1827 won land lottery 124 District, 20 Sec., 1 and in 1832 won land lottery lot 1079 District 2 Loc. 4; he was in the 1840 census Appling County GEORGIA. Served as private in Juhan's Battalion of the SC Militia during the War of 1812. About 1815 moved to Montgomery County, Georgia near Spring Hill. Move to Handtown Community in present day Jeff Davis County GEORGIA. Appling County GEORGIA Probate Court Est. of David Yawn, 1856 return, 1857 return, pgs. 78-79, Nancy Yawn Admixr, 113 head of cattle, 2 lots of land (recorded July 15, 1857). Pages 148-149 Est. of David Yawn - June 1st 1858, 1 lot of land #356 (2nd Dist), lot of land #355, 100 head of cows, signed July 5, 1858 Nancy her X mark Yawn.

Notes for Nancy ALTMAN: 1850 Appling County GEORGIA census indicates Mathias Quin, age 23, was in the household of widow Nancy Yawn (age 48, b. NC) Sept. 14, 1866 Nancy Yawn, Lewis Yawn, Emlia Yawn, and MarGeorgiarett Yawn sell all lot 355 eastside of Mill Branch containing 100 acres to Hampton Quin.

b. Willis Jackson YOUN, born abt 1800 in Orangeburg County, South Carolina, died in late 1860s in Mississippi(?). He married Louise (ODOM) Youn.

Notes for Louise ODOM: May descend from Maj. Benjamin Odom of Aiken County South Carolina. John ODUM family in Telfair County, Georgia in 1820 census, in Montgomery County in 1830. Near neighbor in both lists is Simon YAWN. Louise ODUM, daughter of John, married either James or Willis YAWN, son of Simon. The young couple were in southern Alabama before 1837. John O. ODUM, born 1813 SC, married Elizabeth J. JORDAN, daughter of Radford.

Notes for Louise ODOM: Willis Jackson's Wife, Louise Odum moved to LA after the Civil war along with several of her sons (James Hodge, John Portervine Joseph and Jeff) Her son Cornelius died in New Orleans in 1903 and Jeff was killed by the LA Militia in November 1871. James Hodge was involved with the Colfax Massacre in April 1873. Louise (Louisa) died in Grant Parish in 1870.They lived in Covington Co., Miss. prior to the war.

c. Simon Odis YAUN, born abt 1821 in Coffee County, Georgia; died 13 Oct 1893 in Jeff Davis County, Georgia. He married in 1844 in Appling County, Georgia Rebecca Jane (SPELL) Yaun, born abt 1822 in Appling County, Georgia; died 11 Feb 1881 in Graham, Appling County, Georgia, daughter of George SPELL and Easter ([---]) Spell.

Notes for Simon Odis YAUN: LDS - 0040968 - YS ltr 1980 (Notes: Death cert. of Ellen Yawn Dyal says Simon Yawn b. S.C. Lester Dyal says Simon Yawn made shoes for soldiers during Civil War, another death cert. says Simon's middle initial was "N" vice "O", Simon Yawn was one-fourth Indian, Mrs. Daisy Carter said Simon Yawn was illegitimate son of a Jewish Peddler. Simon Yawn had three other brothers, Simon and Bill lived near a river, one bro. lived Chauncey, one bro. lived in Bainbridge. Served as a PVT in Captain Mayer's County of Appling County Cavalry at Holmesville, GEORGIA. Buried along Bullard's Creek, Appling County GEORGIA.
