Migration of Thomas VALENTINE

1. Thomas VALENTINE, born 1770 in Orangeburg District, South Carolina He married abt 1787 in Orangeburg District, South Carolina Elizabeth [---].

Notes for Thomas VALENTINE: His family is first found in the 1790 census of the Orangeburgh District of SC with one male over 16 (himself), one male under 16 and 2 females in the family. He and family is also there in 1800. In 1810 census he is in the Mississippi Territory - Jefferson Co. and Franklin Co. MS in 1830, in this census he is listed as being over 60 years of age. His father is not known but is believed to be one of the following Valentines in Colonel Fisher's Regiment of the Orangeburgh Militia; James Valentine, Sr., James Valentine, Jr., Levi Valentine, John Valentine and William Valentine. This researcher believes his father was James Valentine, Sr., and that all the Valentines in that Regiment were blood related. His time of birth is estimated from the above census reports.

Children of Thomas VALENTINE and Elizabeth [---] were as follows:

a. Rebecca VALENTINE, born 1798; died 1852 in Walker Co., Texas. She married (1) on 27 Apr 1811 in Amite County, Mississippi Norris FOSTER, son of James W. FOSTER and Mary HARROD; (2) in 1846 Henry H. SMITH.

b. John VALENTINE, born 1800 in Orangeburg District, South Carolina; died aft 1850 in Catahoula Parish, Louisiana. He married in 1827 in Franklin County, Mississippi Nancy ZEIGLER, born 1811 in Franklin County, Mississippi; died abt 1850 in Catahoula Parish, Louisiana, daughter of John ZEIGLER and Sarah LAVICA.

c. William Henry VALENTINE, born abt 1799 in Orangeburg District, South Carolina; died 6 Dec 1868 in East Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He married (1) abt 1822 in Mississippi [---] (UNKNOWN) Valentine; (2) in 1840 in East Baton Rouge, Louisiana Nancy Ann LIVELY, born 1825 in Louisiana; died aft 1870 in Louisiana, daughter of Berry LIVELY and Hanna BROOKS.

d. Levi VALENTINE, born 1807 in Orangeburg District, South Carolina; died abt 1861 in Caldwell Parish, Louisiana. He married in 1830 in Franklin County, Mississippi Caroline ZEIGLER, born 1816 in Franklin County, Mississippi; died in Caldwell Parish, Louisiana, daughter of John ZEIGLER and Sarah LAVICA. Caroline was as sister of Nancy Zeigler who married John Valentine a brother of Levi.
