Migration of Zachariah BLACKLEDGE and Mary GRESSETT
1. Zachariah BLACKLEDGE, born 28 Jul 1767 in Orangeburg District, South Carolina He married on 7 Jul 1787 in Orangeburg District, South Carolina Mary GRESSETT, born 18 Jan 1770 in Orangeburg District, South Carolina; died in Jones County, Mississippi, daughter of Colonel John GRESSETT and Susanna Elisabetha FUNCHESS.
Notes for Mary GRESSETT: Mary Gressett is a sister to William Gressett, son of John Gressett, the Rev. War soldier. Their four known children: William Gressett, b. 1765-70; his [supposed] sister Lydia Gressett, b. 1765-1770; Elizabeth Gressett, b. 1771 who married James Grimes; and a John Gressett, b. abt 1774. Mary would fit well into the family of (Col.) John Gressett and his wife Susanna Elizabetha Fontius [Funchess]. Mary Blackledge named a daughter Lydia and also used the names John, Elizabeth, and William is the best circumstantial evidence available. Mary and Zachariah moved to Jones Co. MS approx. 1818/20 and her sister Lydia Byrd went with them because her husband abandoned her and her children. He went to GA. Zachariah (or at least a Zachariah Blackledge) appears on the 1790 Orangeburgh Census with a Lydia Gressett listed near him.

f. Elizabeth BLACKLEDGE, born 14 Apr 1797 in Orangeburg District, South Carolina.
g. Winaford BLACKLEDGE, born 6 Sep 1799 in Orangeburg District, South Carolina.
h. Sarah BLACKLEDGE, born 7 Oct 1803 in Orangeburg District, South Carolina.
i. Zachariah BLACKLEDGE (JR), born 27 Aug 1806 in Orangeburg District, South Carolina.
