OGS Projects

Preserving the Past, Connecting the Present

The Orangeburgh Genealogical Society (OGS) is dedicated to preserving, researching, and sharing the rich history of Orangeburgh District and its people. Through our ongoing projects, we bring together historical records, DNA research, and migration studies to help descendants uncover their roots and understand the journeys of their ancestors.

DNA Project

Unlock your family's story through science. Our DNA Project helps connect descendants of early Orangeburgh settlers, verify family lines, and open doors to new discoveries. Whether you've already taken a DNA test or are considering one, this project is an invaluable tool for expanding your family research.

First Families of Orangeburgh

Celebrate and document the original settlers who shaped our community. The First Families of Orangeburgh program recognizes descendants of those who lived in the District before 1780. By becoming part of this project, you preserve your family's legacy for future generations while contributing to the collective history of Orangeburgh District.

Orangeburgh Family Migrations

Follow the paths your ancestors took from Orangeburgh District to find new land opportunities outside of South Carolina as the country expanded with newly formed Territories and States westward. This project offers both a broad historical view and personal connections to your own lineage.
