TAYLOR, born 26 Mar 1797 in Richland County, South Carolina; died 4 Mar 1852 in Alabama He married on 12 Oct 1826 in Richland County, South Carolina Lavenia TURNIPSEED, born 6 Oct 1808 in South Carolina; died 28 Nov 1873 in Pickens County, Alabama, daughter of Jacob TURNIPSEED and Katherine VOIGHT.

Children of John H. TAYLOR and Lavenia TURNIPSEED were as follows:

a. Louisa Sibyl TAYLOR, born 7 Sep 1827 in Richland County, South Carolina; died 7 Jul 1832 in Richland County, South Carolina.

b. Sarah Frances TAYLOR, born 19 Jun 1829 in Richland County, South Carolina; died 21 Jul 1873 in Pickens County, Alabama. She married on 5 May 1852 Hicks Benjamin CHAPPELL (Sr), born 18 Aug 1831 in Fairfield County, South Carolina; died 13 Feb 1905 in Pickens County, Alabama.

c. James Thomas TAYLOR, born 19 Aug 1831 in Richland County, South Carolina; died 22 Aug 1841 in Alabama.

d. Meredith Michael TAYLOR, born 29 Dec 1833 in Richland County, South Carolina; died 15 Jan 1836 in Richland County, South Carolina.

e. Elizabeth Catherine TAYLOR, born 10 Apr 1836 in Richland County, South Carolina; died 30 Dec 1873. She married on 20 Dec 1855 James B. NEWELL.

f. John William TAYLOR, born 2 Nov 1838; died Mar 1870. He married on 20 Oct 1863 Lilia Rebecca WILKINS.

g. Mary Ellen TAYLOR, born 6 Mar 1841 in Alabama; died 25 May 1855 in Pickens County, Alabama; buried in Garden Cem., Pickens Co., Alabama.

h. Luvenia Ann TAYLOR, born 27 Apr 1843 in Alabama; died 17 Jul 1845 in Alabama.

i. Curtis Manly TAYLOR, born 24 Jan 1846 in Alabama; died 9 Jul 1862; buried in Garden Cem., Pickens Co., Alabama. Curtis died of camp fever as a member of the "Dixie Boys" 24th Regime nt, Alabama Volunteers, Confederate States Army, on 9 July 1862.

j. Eliza Henrietta TAYLOR, born 29 Oct 1848 in Alabama. She married on 3 Jan 1872 Parks O. LONGMIRE.
