1. Joseph BROWN, born abt 1760; died abt 7 May 1822 in Pike County, Mississippi He married Sarah [---].

Notes for Joseph BROWN: Joseph, Daniel, Isaiah, Francis, Henry and William are some of the names of Browns first coming to Mississippi. Joseph Brown was in Lawrence County, MS. before June 24, 1822 (his Will). The 1st settlement was located three miles west of present day Tylertown, MS on Sweet Water Creek (Walthall Co.). A second Brown settlement was in Pike County (now Lincoln Co., MS) after 1824. The Browns, with Charles Hoover, Jacob Corley, Harris Rawls and Jacob Coon are at the new location. The names of Jacob Coon, Harris Rawls, Charles Hoover, Robert Brown, J.S. Miller appear in the Joseph Brown will papers. The name Henry Brown appears on Georgia passport of Jacob Coon and Harris Rawls, who were brother-in-laws.
